After participating in this activity, learners should be better able to:
- Define agitation and its role in Alzheimer’s dementia, including its precipitating factors, symptoms, and potential pathophysiological mechanisms
- Assess the utility and limitations of therapies currently used to address agitation in Alzheimer’s dementia
- Describe the mechanisms of action of emerging therapies for agitation in Alzheimer’s dementia
- Evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety data for emerging therapies for agitation in Alzheimer’s dementia and their implications for patient care
- Implement optimal management strategies for agitation in Alzheimer’s dementia that incorporate patients and care partners in treatment decisions
