LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After completing this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Summarize the etiology of chronic wounds and extrinsic factors that contribute to and affect wound healing outcomes
  • Explain the phases of wound healing and the associated microenvironment, cellular components and their functions in wound healing
  • Describe specific diagnostic tests, examination tests, lab tests, and measures related to wound assessment and management and the components of documentation
  • Identify methods for recognizing soft tissue and bone infections, bioburden management, and treatment of local and systemic infections
  • Outline specific treatment interventions for chronic wounds including nutritional management, debridement, topical therapies, and biophysical agents

INTENDED LEARNERS

Physicians, Podiatrists, Wound Care Surgeons, Physical Therapists and PTAs, Occupational Therapists and OTAs, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Masters Prepared Nurses, Registered Nurses, Associate Degree Nurses, LPN/LVNs, CNAs, Dietitians, and Sales and Marketing Specialists within wound care.

ACTIVITY OVERVIEW

This on-demand webcast is available with synchronized slides and video/audio. 

To be eligible for documentation of credit for each session attended, learners must participate in the activity, complete 30-question post-test with a minimum score of 70% and complete the activity evaluation. Participants who complete the evaluation online within active dates of the training will receive documentation of credit. Your certificate may not load if you are accessing it from a smartphone, or settings of your browser do not allow for a new tab/window to open.  

Once a certificate has been claimed, physicians and pharmacists may elect for credits to be submitted on their behalf to their boards via additional fields that will appear within the Claim Certificate page. Credits must be submitted through this process to be reported to the American Board of Surgery and the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy.

Hawaii: The Board will accept continued competence courses in subjects related to either the professional practice of physical therapy or patient/client management from courses approved by another state or jurisdiction's physical therapy board or its equivalent.
