INTENDED LEARNERS

This activity is designed for interventional radiologists, vascular surgeons, interventional cardiologists, interventional neuroradiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, clinical cardiologists, clinical radiologists, neurologists, internists, nurses, and others involved in the treatment of cardiovascular disease.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After participating in this activity, learners should be better able to:

• Describe the epidemiology and disease burden of venous and arterial diseases.
• Compare and contrast the mechanisms of action of conventional vitamin K antagonist (VKA) therapies and newer direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC).
• Evaluate safety, efficacy, and indications for DOACs in the management of VTE and PAD.
• Incorporate evidence-based current guidelines into clinical protocols for the optimal management of VTE and PAD.
