Session 33: You’re Kidneying Me: Wounds and the Renal Patient
You’re Kidneying Me: Wounds and the Renal Patient
Moderator/Speaker: John Chang, MD
Whether it be in the form of acute kidney injury (AKI), chronic kidney disease (CKD), or end-stage renal disease (ESRD), renal impairment can have a big impact on wound healing. A number of risk factors ranging from poor wound healing to limited mobility can all play a role in hindering wound healing in renal patients. This session will explore various types of renal conditions, how kidney disease affects their skin, how it may impact wound treatment, and how to better address these issues in your practice.
