    Intended Learners

    This activity is designed for interventional cardiologists, nephrologists, vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, clinical cardiologists, nurses, technicians and others involved in the treatment of patients with heart disease and kidney failure in the cardiac catheterization lab.

    Learning Objectives

    After completing this activity, participants should be able to:

    • Identify the connection between heart disease and kidney function.
    • Define what contrast-induced acute kidney injury is, what causes it, and the influence of comorbidities for patients in the cath lab. 
    • Describe the key recommendations and treatment options for these high-risk patients in the cath lab.
