    ISET: Nurse and Techs Symposium: Innovations in Cardiac and Vascular Care

    Intended Learners

    The International Symposium on Endovascular Therapy (ISET) is designed for interventional radiologists, vascular surgeons, interventional cardiologists, interventional neuroradiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, clinical cardiologists, clinical radiologists, neurologists, internists, nurses, and others involved in the treatment of cardiovascular disease.

    Learning Objectives

    The goal of this program is to provide an overview of the latest therapies and technologies in endovascular services.  At the conclusion of this conference, attendees will be able to:

    • Explain how the Affordable Care Act is driving standardization and systemization of care across organizations.  
    • Describe the concepts of custom 3D medical modeling and how these tools aid diagnosis and pre-operative planning to improve outcomes.  
    • Discuss the potential complications that can occur during endovascular cases and what the team can do to prepare for the worst.  
    • Describe the various types and indications for venous access lines and the essential care management principles to maintain them.  
    • Explain the different types of deep vein thrombosis and current treatment options available.
    • Explain the problems associated with inferior vena cava filters and why a coordinated retrieval program is essential.  
    • Define the indications and goals of catheter directed liver therapies.
    • Discuss why portal vein embolization and radiation lobectomy techniques are used and how the procedures are done.    
    • Describe the advent of biodegradable and absorbable devices and the latest research for future applications.  
    • Explain how and why optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging is used in the Cath Lab.
    • Discuss current research and future applications for transcatheter valve therapies.  
    • Describe the latest research and advances in stroke intervention.  

    Activity Overview

    This interactive symposium will occur on Saturday, February 4, 2017, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

    To be eligible for documentation of credit for each session attended, attendees must participate in the full activity and complete the online evaluation form for each session.

    ARRT Accreditation

    The Nurses and Technologists Symposium: Innovations in Cardiac & Vascular Care, taking place on Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 8:00am – 4:30pm has been approved for 6 A+ ARRT CE credits by the Association for Vascular and Interventional Radiographers (AVIR).

    The AVIR is an ARRT Recognized Continuing Education Evaluating Mechanism, (RCEEM).
