Light, Sound, Electricity – Augmenting Repair with Biophysical Technologies: A Physical Therapy Case-Based Presentation

    Course Description

Moderator/Speaker: Joseph McCulloch, PhD, PT, CWS, FAPTA
Speaker: Edward Mahoney, PT, DPT, CWS

Physical Therapists have a variety of biophysical technologies that use the principles of light, sound and electricity to alter the wound healing process. Properly administered, these energies can work to facilitate repair by stimulation of epithelialization, fibroplasia and wound contraction. In addition, some technologies such as ultraviolet radiation and electrical stimulation can
reduce the level of bioburden in the wound. In a case-based format, this session will explore cases on the use of biophysical technologies to facilitate healing.
