Cell-Based Therapy Approaches
Course Description
Moderator/Speaker: William Marston, MD
Speaker: Robert Kirsner, MD, PhD
Cell therapies include stem/progenitor cells and adult living cells, many of which are either currently being developed and are in clinical trial, or have already been approved for treatment of venous and diabetic foot ulcers. Allogeneic (from a donor) and autologous (from the same patient) cell therapies continue to show great promise and have substantial therapeutic
potential for treatment of chronic wounds. This session will define different types of cell-based therapies and their potential mechanisms of action.
