Amniotic Tissue: More than Nourishing a Fetus, Can They Improve Wound Healing?
Course Description
Moderator/Speaker: William A. Marston, MD
Speaker: Lawrence Lavery, DPM, MPH
Human amniotic membrane allografts have been used in surgical procedures for more than 100 years. Over the last few years, they have become a major focus in the wound care industry. When traditional approaches to wound care fail, amniotic membrane allografts can function as a biologic scaffold to facilitate and enhance tissue regeneration. Using clinical cases, this session will provide an overview of the current evidence on the use of amniotic tissue in clinical practice, and outline the landscape of various commercially available amniotic membrane products.
