Biofilms may be a major factor in non-healing wounds. Because bacteria within biofilms are more resistant to antibiotics, it can be difficult to eliminate biofilms from chronic wounds. This session will review important characteristics of biofilms, and how the presence of biofilms affects the wound healing process and treatment options. New methods to eradicate wound
biofilms will also be described.
