This activity is designed for plastic surgeons, nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.
lEARNING OBJECTIVES
After participating in this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Evaluate data surrounding the use of closed incision negative pressure therapy (ciNPT) in reducing the incidence of seromas and to aid high risk patients in reducing the incidence of superficial surgical site infection.
- Explain the process and implication of an FDA De Novo classification.
- Review meta-analysis examining the effect of ciNPT use over closed incisions in reducing SSIs versus traditional dressings.
- Recognize the psychosocial impact of breast surgery and novel, state of the art technologies designed to preserve patients’ quality of life.
- Explore cases on the use of and clinical outcomes for ciNPT over closed incisions following breast surgery.
